A number of years ago, in magical woods near Flipville, a bouncing golden bear was born.
Immediately, his appearance gained the attention of everyone around him. His fur was as
golden as an Olympic medal, his eyes twinkled so brightly that they danced in the sunlight, and
his paws seemed to be embedded with springs because he could jump and leap higher than
any of the other baby bears. One day, he was told about a gym called Barron Gymnastics!
Since the golden bear loved flipping and swinging, he knew that he had to visit. When he was
old enough, the golden bear traveled all the way to St. Louis to meet the Barron Gymnastics
family. After meeting them, he was inspired by their high energy, confidence, and kindness.
Even though they had never met a flipping bear before, everyone at Barron liked him so much
that they invited him to be a part of the family…as their mascot! He knew that he had finally
found his home. They proudly named him FLIP because of his unbelievable tumbling talent!
Melissa has been passionate about gymnastics for as long as she can remember. Flipping at an early age, she dedicated her childhood to the sport, competing in Texas and Illinois and advancing to Level 9. While she loved all the events, floor was always her favorite. She loves children for their joy, innocence, and boundless imagination, believing that nothing beats the smile or hug of a happy child.
Outside the gym, Melissa enjoys an active lifestyle, from hiking, family bike rides, and park hopping to playing pickleball and taking long walks. She loves working out, doing bootcamps, yoga, and trying new sports, even if she’s not the best at them. Throughout the year, we will hold Ribbon & Stars Evaluation months, during which children will perform the skills they have been learning from their teachers. Students will be evaluated only in their scheduled classes during the evaluation period.
At Barron, we love giving our exclusive posters, celebration ribbons, and coloring in their stars as they achieve each skill. Our program offers high-level gymnastics instruction and boosts self-worth, self-esteem, and valuable goal-setting skills. This program recognizes students’ improvements and hard work!
The following programs have separate curriculums and posters for all levels:
Back Handspring
Junior Gymnastics
Girls Gymnastics
Boys Ninja Gymnastics
Stop at the front desk on your first day of class to receive your poster for your level.
The poster lists skills that are required to be completed for your level and matches the curriculum skill sheet that the instructors have for each child.
During the Ribbon & Star Show Off Month, the students will be evaluated on their progress.
In the last week of Show Off Month, students will celebrate their accomplishments in class with their teacher.
The customer service department will email parents when their student’s skills are ready to view in the Parent Portal.
When the student completes all the skills on their poster, the customer service department will contact you when it’s time for you to move up to the next level.
After moving up, visit the front desk before your next class to receive your student’s new poster. Your child will also celebrate their achievement by ringing the move-up bell and receiving their move-up medal, marking a milestone in their gymnastics journey!
While nothing can compare to the benefits of their regularly scheduled class, we understand that illnesses and family or school obligations come up. Barron offers Open Gym passes as a make-up option for instructional classes.
To receive a Make-up Open Gym pass, an absence must be submitted through your Parent Portal.
Make-up Open Gyms are based on availability and must be scheduled through your Parent Portal.
Make-up Open Gym passes are good for one year from the date of the absence and are transferable to others.
Open gym is one full hour of supervised, unstructured time where children can practice their skills and have fun exploring our gymnastics equipment. Teachers are available for assistance. Check our website or with the front desk for dates/times. You must have a make-up pass to be admitted to the open gym for free. An adult in the gym must accompany children in kindergarten and younger.
